  • Yes, full Chromecast support is available.

  • Yes, the Met Opera on Demand Android app supports full subtitle functionality when Chromecast is used, so available multilingual subtitles are displayed over the video on your TV. When you start a video on your Android tablet or smartphone and then turn on Chromecast to watch it on your TV, the subtitle selection (and style) on your device will be transferred to Chromecast. Once Chromecast starts playing, you can change the subtitle language using the "CC" icon that appears in the lower left corner of your Android device's screen when Chromecast is active. To customize the subtitle style on your TV, you need to access the Settings menu available when you open Subtitles in the player on your Android device.

  • The default settings for the Met Opera on Demand Android app should display subtitles on your device in a medium-sized, white Helvetica font with no background color (so that the text appears on your screen as subtitles rather than subtitles.) However, the users can modify the default appearance through the "Settings" option available under the "Subtitles" menu in the application.

  • The appearance and style of subtitles on your TV when playing Chromecast will always match whatever settings are on your Android device. To adjust the size, color, etc., open the Subtitles menu in the player on your Android device and select Settings, where you can make such adjustments. Any changes you make here will apply to both your Android device and Chromecast.

  • The full Chromecast functionality available in the Met Opera on Demand Android app is only accessible after signing into the app as a subscriber or 7-day free trial user. • The new Met Opera on Demand Android app will now allow you to pause playback at any point during an opera and return to the same point and resume playback later. On the app's new "Home" screen, when users are logged in, they'll see the "Continue Watching and/or Listening" carousel just below the large rotating graphic. Here users will see up to 25 of their most recently viewed operas, with a small pink indicator at the bottom of the photo showing their progress in watching that opera. Just tap on the image to return to the opera and press play to pick up where you left off. An opera will automatically be removed from the "Continue Watching" lineup after you reach the end. And if you have more than 25 operas in your list, the next opera you watch will replace the oldest one when the app refreshes. This feature also works if you start watching on your Android device and want to continue watching on another currently available Met Opera on Demand platform (or vice versa). Just sign in (to the website or another app) with the same username and password, and when you start playing an opera that was already running on your Android device, the player will pick up where you left off.

  • The new Met Opera on Demand Android app is designed to allow you to play audio-only content in the background while you use other apps on your Android device.
